NetFee Tools

Methodology

NetFee Tools publishes payment-fee data to help US freelancers and small businesses understand processing costs. This page explains how that data is sourced, graded, and kept current.

Evidence grades

Every fee figure carries one of three grades:

  • A — Official source. Taken directly from the processor's own published pricing page.
  • B — Official secondary. Stated in an official document other than the main pricing page (e.g., a help article or contract schedule).
  • C — Third-party observation. Reported by a reputable third party; used only when no official figure is available, and flagged as such.

Verification cadence

Fee pages are reviewed on a schedule (processor pages at least every 90 days; methodology at least every 365 days). An automated “Fee Watch” pipeline checks official sources and proposes updates, but no figure is changed without human review (YMYL policy). Changes are recorded in the Fee Change Log.

Calculation method

All calculator math is done in integer cents (BigInt) so a cent never disappears to floating-point error. The fee is the percentage portion (floored) plus the fixed fee; net is gross minus fee. Calculations run entirely in your browser.

Independence

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Stripe, PayPal, or Square. We do not display their logos. Where we participate in an affiliate program in the future, those links will be clearly labeled and kept on separate commercial pages from this neutral data.

Informational only — not financial or tax advice.

NetFee Tools is an independent reference. Fee figures are seed values captured from each processor's official US pricing page and may be outdated or not apply to your specific account, transaction type, or volume. Always confirm current rates on the processor's official site. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Stripe, PayPal, or Square, and we do not display their logos.

Frequently asked questions

Where does NetFee Tools get its fee data?

From each processor’s official pricing page. Every figure carries a source link, an evidence grade, and a last-verified date. We publish a narrow, verifiable seed rate rather than an unverified range.

What are the evidence grades?

A = official pricing page (primary source); B = official secondary material such as help-centre documentation; C = third-party observation, which we do not use as a published rate without corroboration.

How often are fees verified?

On a defined cadence, with every change recorded in the fee change log. An automated watcher only drafts proposed updates; a human reviews and approves anything published, because fee data is financial information.

Are the amounts I enter into a calculator stored?

No. Calculations run entirely in your browser; the amounts you type are never sent to a server. See the privacy policy for details on analytics.
